I would add: not only support and will, but also *the necessary physical resources themselves*, in view of the immense potential of solar power harvested in space to take on the baseload of industrial energy supply, and provide energy for at least 1400 years of space-based growth (at 1% p.a.). | My heartfelt belief confirms that this is only the tip of the iceburg and we have merely scratched the surface where man intends to be in the next hundred years. More has taken place in the last 50 years than ever before. Space is the last frontier and man's curiosity is eternal and overwhelming. Every man woman and child is enamored with space travel and all that it entails. The Overview is the path many will take to illuminate and teach the average person about the wonders of "space" and what we will derive from it in the years to come. find it heartwarming and interesting how the barriers between people
lessens after a crisis. Equally interesting is how quickly we are
drawn back into our learned behaviors and fearful reactions to one
another after the crisis has passed. I often wondered if it would
take an alien invasion that threatened the entire planet to make us
unite as one, laying aside our differences and sharing our resources
freely with one another. The potential impact the Overview Effect will have, inspires hope for our future as a planet, as a united humanity; growing together towards a common goal of not just surviving, but THRIVING. | Frank White's book has been one of my favorites for many years when I was introduced to the Institute at the New Space Conference and found a philosophy that matches my own beliefs. | Within each and every individual on Earth there exists the capacity to be concerned with the common good. Nature selected for this adaptation of humankind which is evidenced in ancient times on a global level. You need only step back and take a historical overview of the human condition to see the effect of the collaborative tendancies inherent in our nature. Despite the myriad of societal norms that distinguished one populace from another, separated by space and time, cultural continuity was highly conserved, in many cases for thousands of years, due to the imperative of interdependedness within the community and interrelationships with their respective environments. Contemporary notions of independence, the cornerstone of the nuclear family in this nuclear age, lead us blindly away from what is in our nature. Why not just give lessons in enlightenment? Why another 501 3 c corp and all this hallabaloo?
