of the marginalization of space, you write, social leaders "often
see the new space movement as a diversion of attention, resources,
and energy from solving those very problems, rather than potentially
one of the greatest tools for galvanizing world support and the will
for solving them." I would add: not only support and will, but also *the necessary physical resources themselves*, in view of the immense potential of solar power harvested in space to take on the baseload of industrial energy supply, and provide energy for at least 1400 years of space-based growth (at 1% p.a.).
